Notarial services

The Embassy processes requests for notarial services on official Singapore government/court documents intended for use in Singapore. We do not generally perform notarial functions on documents which will be used in a country other than Singapore, unless it is a requirement by the local authorities.

Should you be uncertain about the need for your documents to be legalised by the Department of Consular Affairs (prior to coming to the Embassy) and/or have other queries on the notarisation process, please contact the Embassy for more information.

Important notice

A prior appointment should be made before coming to the Embassy for all notarial services. This includes the following:

• Execution (signing) of official documents in the presence of a Consular Officer;

• Request for Certificate of Residence (for Thai Department of Land Transport);

• Certifying supporting documents for Marriage Registration in Thailand;

• Certifying True Copy of Documents; and

• Notarisation/Legalisation of Documents

Witnessing of Signature for Documents

The Embassy may witness signature for official Singapore government/court documents such as a Power of Attorney, CPFB Forms, etc.

Documents required

You are required to be present at the Embassy and bring along your passport and/or other forms of photo identity for identification purposes, along with the document(s), completed but not signed.  The Embassy reserves the right to refuse to process documents that are not signed in the presence of the Consular Officer. 

Fee

420 Baht per document (not including fee of 30 Baht for additional exhibit(s), if any)

Processing time

Half a working day.  Documents submitted in the morning can be collected in the afternoon on the same day, while documents submitted in the afternoon can be collected in the morning of the following working day.

Certifying true copy of Documents

The Embassy may only certify a true copy of documents issued by the Singapore Government such as birth/death certificates, birth/death extracts, marriage certificates, etc.  Other documents without the Singapore Government’s seal must be legalised at the Singapore Academy of Law (https://legalisation.sal.sg) before it is legalised by the Embassy (see next section on ‘Legalisation of Documents’).

Please bring the original and a photocopy of the document as the original document needs to be seen and compared with an exact photocopy of the document.

120 Baht per document (not including supply fee of 10 Baht per page, if any)

Processing time

Half a working day.

Legalisation of Documents

You are advised to check with the requesting authority in Singapore if they require the document(s) to be legalised.

Thai government documents to be used in Singapore must be translated into English and legalised by the Legalisation Division of the Department of Consular Affairs, Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before they can be notarised by the Embassy.  For more details on the Thai MFA’s address, contact information, opening hours, legalisation service requirements and fees, please refer to https://consular.mfa.go.th.
